Dr. Osahon Enabulele, immediate past President of the World Medical Association (WMA), on Wednesday, urged the government to conduct an inquiry into the Ibadan explosion and sustain emergency care for the injured victims.

He said, “While I share the pains and feelings of families of injured victims. Thorough investigations must be carried out to unearth the possible cause(s) of the unfortunate incidence amid reports attributing the incidents to explosives stored by miners.”
Enabulele also urged for the involvement of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) in the inquiry into the explosion in the Bodija area of Ibadan and the execution of the recommendations that occurred on Tuesday.
The immediate past WMA boss stressed the need for physicians, under the aegis of the NMA to show solidarity through the provision of urgently needed emergency care for the injured victims.
Enabulele who was also a former President of the NMA, applauded the efforts of the leadership of the Oyo State branch of NMA in directing their colleagues around the Bodija axis to make themselves available.
He said, “Beyond the provision of emergency care, physicians, as well as other stakeholders, need to be involved in the process of investigations and the implementation of the outcomes/reports. “This is one way, amongst others, to avoid a recurrence.
“In this regard, the support of private and public institutions and organisations and individuals will be essential.”
He condoled with families who may have lost their loved ones in the explosions as well as to the people and Government of Oyo State.
