Dr. Osahon Enabulele, Director General of the Dr. Osahon Enabulele Foundation (DOEF), has unveiled the Edo State Secondary Schools Debate aimed at inspiring intellectual development and leadership skills among young Nigerians.
Speaking at the competition
held in Egor Local Government Area, Enabulele tasked Nigerian youths to harness
their potential for greatness, emphasising that they can achieve remarkable
success while remaining in their homeland.
Enabulele,
who is the former President of the World Medical Association (WMA), urged the
students to remain strategic in planning, focused and resilient in their aspirations, despite
the distractions that may arise.
He said, “Your
future is filled with boundless promises. Concentrate on your aspirations, and
do not give up on yourselves. You can achieve global recognition while making
meaningful contributions right here in Nigeria,” he stated, reinforcing the
belief that local achievements can resonate on a global scale.
The competition,
spearheaded by the DOEF, serves as a platform for nurturing the intellectual
capabilities of students, fostering a generation of leaders equipped to tackle
the challenges of tomorrow. Enabulele reiterated the Foundation’s commitment to
societal betterment through education, leadership training, and health
outreach, ensuring that no one is left behind in the quest for progress.
Prof.
Dominic Osaghae, Chairman of the Foundation, praised the exceptional talent
displayed by the participating schools, highlighting the hope that resides
within Nigeria’s youth. “The students demonstrated exceptional intellect and
articulation. Our country still holds a lot of hope. All is not lost. The
question is: what can you do to make a difference with the roles entrusted to
you?” he encouraged, emphasising the importance of collaboration and teamwork
as essential components of success.
The
competition culminated in a victory for Eghosa Anglican Grammar School, which
emerged as the overall winner. Awards were presented to outstanding students,
and certificates of participation were distributed to all participants and
their teachers, celebrating their commitment to intellectual growth.
In alignment
with its mission to promote child development, the Foundation also marked
Children’s Day with a renewed commitment to protecting children’s rights and
welfare. Enabulele described every child as “a promise of a better tomorrow,”
pledging ongoing efforts to nurture and empower the younger generation.
The DOEF’s
inter-school debate initiative will extend to other local government areas,
further fostering intellectual growth and leadership skills among students. For
Enabulele and the DOEF, investing in the development of today’s children is not
just a responsibility; it is a vital step toward securing a brighter future for
all.
