Medplus Nigeria is set to launch $30,000 grant for female-led business owners and conduct free health checks for 30 communities nationwide to commemorate its 30th anniversary in October.

Tagged, 'Built To Last' fund, the grant is more than just financial support; it's a lifeline to dreams, aspirations, and the economic empowerment of women,” said, Mrs. Joke Bakare, the Founder and CEO of Medplus.

Bakare announced this during a media briefing, to celebrate her company’s milestone anniversary, saying that her company’s vision is to meet the needs of people in the community.

In view of this, she said Medplus would provide complimentary health screenings, wellness workshops, and health education in over 30 communities across the country with its pharmacists and partners

She explained, “Delivering Wellness’ initiative reflects the company's deep-rooted belief that the wellbeing of a community is inextricably linked to the success of its businesses. Medplus is not just a pharmacy; it is a community builder.

Bakare said, “In appreciation for being a part of our journey and success story, we are taking Medplus to the people, and delivering wellness across over 30 different communities within Nigeria. We will be hosting complimentary health screenings, wellness workshops, and health education in over 30 communities across Nigeria with our pharmacists and partners.

“One of the most significant highlights of this milestone celebration is the $30,000 grant that Medplus is offering to female entrepreneurs. This grant is more than just financial support; it's a lifeline to dreams, aspirations, and the economic empowerment of women.”

Elaborating on the Female Entrepreneurs' Fund, Medplus Founder said, “In a nation where female entrepreneurs face unique challenges, Medplus is extending a hand to lift them higher, giving them the tools and resources, they need to thrive.”

In addition, she said that Medplus would be giving the grant recipients access to distribution via its network of over 100 outlets nationwide. Market access is one of the challenges most SMEs face and this synergy between a well-established business and budding entrepreneurs will empower female owned brands to scale, she noted. “It is a testament to Medplus's commitment to fostering a supportive ecosystem for businesses, especially those led by women.”

The CEO further said, “The 30th anniversary celebration's theme, "Built To Last," speaks volumes about Medplus' enduring commitment to excellence and sustainability. The journey of three decades is a testament to the resilience, innovation, and adaptability of this female-led business. It has not only weathered storms but has thrived, setting the gold standard for pharmaceutical retail in Nigeria.

As a major highpoint of the occasion, Medplus has organised a conference and exhibition which will hold Thursday, November 9, at the prestigious Oriental Hotel in Lagos.

The event will feature a lineup of distinguished speakers, with world-renowned author and entrepreneur Seth Godin as the keynote speaker. Other prominent business personalities expected at the event include Ibukun Awosika, Kofo Akinkugbe, and Iyin Aboyeji. This event is set to be a platform for inspiring discussions, knowledge sharing, and empowerment, Medplus CEO said.

“While the event itself will be strictly by invitation, Medplus is taking the celebration to the digital space by live-streaming it to an online audience. This inclusivity is a reflection of Medplus's ethos of reaching out and touching lives far and wide.”

Mrs. Bakare thanked her customers and other stakeholders such as Pharmacy Council of Nigeria (PCN), and the National Agency for Food & Drug Administration & Control, (NAFDAC), for their support over the years, “without which, Medplus would not be where it is today.”

“As we celebrate Medplus's 30th anniversary, we applaud the visionary leadership and unwavering dedication of the women who have shaped this iconic brand,” she added.
