Dr. Osahon Enabulele, the immediate Past President of the World Medical Association (WMA), has taken a moment to reflect on the past year and acknowledge the profound challenges of inequalities and inequities experienced at local, national, and global levels. The year 2023 witnessed a distressing widening of these disparities, leaving a lasting impact not only on Edo, Dr. Enabulele's birth state, but also on the entire nation of Nigeria, he said.

Enabulele noted, “The outgone year, 2023, was undoubtedly a very challenging one locally, nationally, and globally, with the resultant widening of inequalities and inequities, and with Edo, my birth State, and Nigeria, my country, having their fair share of these challenges.”

He made the statement in his New Year message entitled ‘Welcome To The Year.’

Further, he tasked everyone, “As we begin a new year, we would all have to work hard to address these increasing socio-economic and political challenges confronting citizens at local, state, national, and global levels.

“In line with the foregoing, I wish to express my firm commitment to make further contributions to the advancement of exemplary leadership, good governance, and our common humanity.

“I wish every citizen of Edo, Nigeria, Africa, and the entire world, a much more fulfilling and prosperous 2024.”
