Edo Decorates Immediate Past WMA President, Enabulele With 'Labour Hero Award'

   

Dr. Osahon Enabulele flanked by Comrade Joe Ajaero, NLC President (Left), and  Edo State Governor Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki (Right) after the conferment of the ‘Labour Hero,’ recognition of his exceptional organisational leadership and profound achievements over the last 30 years by the Edo State Government and organised labour on Monday.

In recognition of his exceptional organisational leadership and profound achievements over the last 30 years, Dr. Osahon Enabulele, Immediate Past President of the World Medical Association, has been formally recognised as a ‘Labour Hero.’

This recognition along with the conferment of a distinguished leadership award, took place during the historic commissioning of the Labour House, by the Governor of Edo State, His Excellency, Mr.Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki, on Monday.

Presenting the award and formal recognition on behalf of the Edo State Government and organised labour, the Deputy Governor of Edo State, Engr. Godwin Marvellous Omobayo applauded the progressive leadership strides of Dr. Osahon Enabulele and wished him greater attainments in his endeavours.

The event was widely attended by members of the State Executive Council, the Speaker and members of the Edo State House of Assembly, Comrade Joe Ajaero (NLC President), Comrade Festus Osifo (TUC President), members of the organised labour, members of the public, and other dignitaries.

The event also featured the recognition of other Labour heroes such as Pa Michael Imoudu, Pa Jonathan Ihonde, Comrade Festus Iyayi, and Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, amongst others.

Responding on behalf of the honorees, Dr.Enabulele thanked the Edo State Government and the Organised Labour for the honour done to them. He commended Governor Godwin Obaseki for his unparalleled commitment to the actualization of the Labour House and called for its sustained maintenance and utilisation for the purposes for which it was built.

He assured that the honorees will make further contributions to the development of society.

The event reached a climax with Governor Godwin Obaseki's announcement of an N70,000 minimum wage for Edo State public sector workers with effect  May 1, 2024. This announcement drew a thunderous applause from all present.
