To celebrate the World Blood Donor Day and raise awareness about the importance of blood donation, Dr. Osahon Enabulele Foundation has advocated for voluntary blood donation and safe blood transfusions to save lives.
Enabulele Foundation made the call to on the World Blood Donor Day to raise awareness about the importance of blood donation, while stressing on regular blood donation to ensure universal access to safe blood transfusions.
In a statement to mark the day, Dr Osahon Enabulele, Director General of the Dr. Osahon Enabulele Foundation (DOEF),
thanked voluntary donors for their life-saving contributions even as he stressed the need for safe blood transfusions.
The theme for this year’s celebration is, 'Give blood, give hope: together we save lives.' Enabulele statement partly reads, "This celebration x-rays the critical role of blood donors in providing hope and survival to patients in need."
Speaking on the Foundation’s strategic thrust, Enabulele, who is also, the former President, World Medical Association emphasised the life-saving role of blood donations in emergency medical response, chronic illness management.
Others are disaster relief efforts during natural calamities and humanitarian crises.
The Foundation is appealing to individuals and communities to actively participate in its life-saving initiatives by donating blood at designated hospitals, advocating for free health screenings, and spreading awareness about the importance of voluntary blood donation in underserved regions.
