Mo’Afrique is making an innovative landmark move from design house to industrial trailblazer as it prepares to unveil Modish, a high‑volume fashion brand, alongside the commissioning of a cutting‑edge garment factory in Abuja on April 26.
The facility is set to redefine African fashion by driving mass
production, scaling innovation, and reshaping how style is consumed across the
continent.
Disclosing this, Omobolanle Olawole, Founder and Creative
Director of Modish Formals, explained that Modish is engineered to close a
longstanding gap in the market, where premium aesthetics meet scalable
production.
The brand responds directly to rising demand from corporate
organisations and institutions seeking high-quality, identity- driven apparel
delivered with consistency, speed, and volume, Olawole said.
According to her, the latest innovation translates Mo’afrique’s
design excellence into a structured, production-led model capable of serving
Africa's growing workforce and institutional sectors.
"The debut line, Modish Formals, will anchor this vision.
Focused on refined corporate wear, it combines tailored design sensibilities
with industrial reliability, setting a new benchmark for large-scale garment
production that does not compromise on style or brand expression.
She noted that the facility will produce a wide range of
uniforms, including military and Paramilitary uniforms and save the country
from spending so much foreign exchange on the importation of these materials.
"The truth is that most institutions in Nigeria, including
the military, police, Police, Paramilitary and corporate organisations, and
even schools import their uniforms. So, what we want to do is to localise
production of these materials so that the government will no longer spend
millions of foreign exchange importing them.
"Our industrial garment factory is purpose-built to serve
both the public and private sectors, and we will be producing a wide range of
uniforms, and their quality will be comparable with anyone imported from other
countries of the world," she declared.
On what the Modish brand is all about, the company's CEO
described it as their umbrella brand designed to serve the mass market with
excellence
"We recognised the immense potential within Nigeria’s
garment industry and created Modish to birth sub-brands that cater to diverse
needs, ranging from everyday wear to specialised formal garments.
"Each sub-brand will uphold the highest standards of
quality, ensuring that our products are both stylish and functional for formal
and personal use.
"Our production process is highly structured, driven by
standardised quality controls, skilled craftsmanship, and rigorous oversight at
every stage and we do not compromise standards.
"What this means in essence is that we are not
mass-producing garments; we are mass-producing excellence with the flexibility
to reflect individual identity within a controlled, high quality framework.
She described the commissioning of the garment factory in Abuja
as a major milestone in the company's journey toward industrialising fashion
production in Nigeria, noting that the facility is designed with scale,
efficiency, and quality in mind.
"The factory we are commissioning is equipped with modern
machinery and supported by a highly trained workforce, it enables us to meet
increasing demand while maintaining the precision that defines our brand.
"Beyond production, the factory is also a statement of
intent. It reflects our commitment to building local capacity, reducing
dependence on imports, and contributing meaningfully to the development of
Nigeria’s manufacturing ecosystem.
Olawole further explained that as a subsidiary of the M3 Group,
Modish is strategically positioned to become a key player in Nigeria's bulk
garment industry, bringing together design innovation, production efficiency,
and operational discipline to deliver consistent value at scale.
Founded in 2016, Mo’afrique has built a strong reputation for
blending African heritage with contemporary elegance in the premium fashion
space.
With the commission of Modish, the brand enters a new growth phase,
extending its commitment to quality, craftsmanship, and identity into the mass
market and industrial garment sector.
